WinCup manufactures a broad range of disposable cups, bowls, containers, cutlery, and thermoformed plastic lids that are lightweight and easy to handle.
WinCup products effectively combine many convenient advantages. They are sanitary, insulated, disposable and lightweight, making them easy to handle. This alleviates many hygienic concerns in hospitals and schools. It also saves on the use of water, detergent and expensive dishwashing equipment in areas such as schools and restaurants.
The foam manufacturing process begins with expandable polystyrene beads (EPS), pre-expanded by steam and air to several times their original size. The beads go into cup machine molds and are fused by steam to form cups. Having been cooled by a water jacket and removed from the molds, the cups move along a conveyor and are automatically tested, stacked and placed in cartons.
Lids for foam cups are manufactured in an extrusion and thermoform process utilizing HIPS for raw material. HIPS is extruded in a continuous plastic sheet which is fed into a thermoformer to be formed into the finished lid.
The manufacturing processes at WinCup are all within EPA Federal guidelines. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) which have been linked to the depletion of the ozone layer are never used by WinCup.
Although foam is not degradable, it has recently been discovered that our air-tight landfills prevent even biodegradable items from decomposing. Since foam products are inert, they do not release any polluting gases or substances into the air, ground or water. A recent study, that spanned 21 years, of landfill contents revealed that foam cups and containers contribute less than 1/3 of 1% of the total landfill waste.
The recycling of WinCups foam cups and containers is supported by many schools and other large institutions. The pellets are molded into a variety of plastic products (i.e., boat docks, park benches, picnic tables, patio furniture, etc.).
